Lithops . South African gems.
I,ve been growing these for years and they're great.
Only need watering once a year ! Reworked and now viewable in the large size. This group has won the Cup in the cacti section of Kiddermister show 4 years on the trot. Hope they don't die !!

Great 2D image, John. However 3D would really make the image zing, IMHO. After all it's how the judges view them when they deservedly award you the Cup.
It's a prickly subject JR but not really my cup of tea. However, as an image it is quite excellent and I can easily see a large print of this adorning someones wall.

Hi Robert
Whats the "prickly " subject ? They're quite squishy things really !

I was at least expecting a goldcrest sat on one in a puddle Well done John, my grandad did onions, don't think he had heard of Lithops.

Hello John
Up to your usual high standard, and the stacking works well. Only a small nit, but the green plant, top right, which the crop runs through seems to grab my attention (the fact that it is cut in half), I know that there are other plants which the edge of the photo cuts through, but that green one seems to have grabbed me? Perhaps because green is my favourite colour .
Best wishes
Phil

Well I have learned something today John. Read all about 'Living Stones' on the internet

The problem with images like this 9in my opinion) is the lack of any kind of "focus'. They are just a heap of stones. They are nice but unfortunately it aint my cup of tea! Would cropping it. maybe enhance it?

I know what you mean , but they are in fact plants Not sure how else you can photograph them in order to show their survival strategy which is parrtly to imitate stones

very unusual John and very interesting to see. They are certainly doing good stone impressions. It shows the varied textures and patterns very well.

Wonderful color palette and the detail is amazing. Nice to see an "out of the box" image!
Well done!

I love Lithops, I saw them at Kew a few years ago, and I have to say John that yours look better, so I am not surprised they won a cup.
