I use Lightroom 3 and PS5 for post production. I re size my images to the 300 and 720 pix as suggested but my size turns up too high. I then try save in medium file to reduce kb size and the images get pixilated. I would prefer to do this in PS5 Help a newbie :frown:

Hi Rick. Re-size your images to 1200 and 720. Go to >file> save for web and devices. Go to the "quality" box and either use the slider or enter a number to get the size as close as possible to 500kb and 200kb respectively. This value will be visible at the bottom left corner under the preview window. Make sure the convert to sRGB box is checked then click "save".

"get the size as close as possible to 500kb and 200kb respectively" - it's a max of 500 kb for the 1200 pixel image, and a max of 300kb (not 200) for the 720 pixel size.
Rick, let us know if you have any other problems -

One more note of confusion. I think some time ago, the size of the small image was changed to 800 pixels on the long size and 200kb for size. Best way is to save for web in PS. Corrections if I'm wrong but I do think this change took place quite a while back. Maybe a year ago?

Rick,

Good advice from Michael and Sandy, and I'll add a tidbit...

When you use the Save for Web and Devices, there is a little arrow in the upper right corner, click it for a drop-down menu. You'll see a selection; "Optimize to File Size" For the 720 px image, I use 295MB, for the 1200px image, I use 495MB just to sure I don't exceed the limits on NPN.

Once you enter the file size, and click OK, the progarm computes the compression level needed to reach that file size. Save the image(s) and you're good to go.

While I'm here...Ensure that your image has been converted to sRGB. If it has, select 'Embed Color Profile'. If it has not been converted, select the check box, 'Convert to sRGB' in the Save for Web... dialog window and save the file.

At that size, I doubt anyone notices. I don't.
