I am heading to Bisti and was wondering if someone might be abel to tell me (offline if you like with email) how to find the "cracked eggs" formations. Any other advice is appreciated too. We will have a GPS so if you have details email me.
Chaco advice too!
Thanks

Hi Richie-
Mark Ferguson and I went through Chaco last January and had a blast. We were only there a short time and we shot Pueblo Bonito.
The best advice I can give about Chaco is to allocate lots of time for both getting there and shooting there. It is about 1.5 hours from the nearest town (Bloomfield) and there's nothing around for miles.
Ideally, you'll want at least one sunrise and one sunset in the park to get the outsides of the buildings. To shoot inside the structures you'll want bright, mid-day light as not much light gets in.
If you have time, hike up one of the trails to the mesa tops, as there are several lesser visited sites that not many people get to. And I hear that the trail to Penasco Blanco, with lots of petroglyphs, is very cool.
I haven't been to Bisti, but I did find several web sites that might be useful. One of these sites even has a map and virtual tour, including the cracked eggs:
Rich, afraid I haven't made it to Bisti yet, but I'm really looking forward to pumping YOU for info after you get back, since we are going next month!
Here is another image to tease you. This is Pueblo Bonito at sunset, late April 2002.
Like Nat said, there are some cool hikes. We did the hike to Pueblo Alto. One cool thing on that hike is that along the way, you come to a spot directly overlooking Pueblo Bonito. Kinda cool. Have fun!!
