Linnet with fly
Every year we go with the family to Holland in spring. last year we went to the small island of Terschelling. I have been to the island of Texel many times. it is easier to get to but it is also infested with bird photographers

Terschelling is a bit of a trek to get to but for bird photography it is (in my opinion) better then Texel...because of its size and it is much quieter.

The Linnet is by no means an easy bird but this male Linnet was giving me ample opportunities to take images while it sat on the little shrub. The fly was a bit of a bonus and you can almost see the Linnet think: shall i get it or shall i not.....(linnets are seed eaters....)

If you want to read more about terschelling for bird photography, have a look at my website under the Diary tab.

It's a lovely image of the Linnet Rene but personally I don't think the fly really adds to the picture. If the Linnet had been looking directly at it then I would say OK. However, in this instance I'd be inclined to remove it. :toast:

Thanks for the comment. I must say the more i look at it, the more i start to doubt the composition with the fly as well. Luckily i have plenty without it!

I agree with Robert on this one Rene
. Good picture, but I feel the fly does nothing.
It s inclusion has probably caused the bird to be a bit too far left in my opinion.

Hi Rene, sorry I have to agree with Robert here, the fly doesn't really add anything to image. It would be different as Robert says if the Linnet was looking directly at it, but as it is there's nothing to connect to the two subjects if you see what I mean.

Still, it's a lovely Linnet shot with a nice smooth background and good colours.

Hi Rene, agree with previous comments about removing the fly and as JR said the linnet is a bit too far left. Have you another fly free image you could post as a re-post? Great light on the bird though!

Superb linnet. a shame the OOF fly and twigs detract from the overall image; it would have been better if they had been in focus IMHO.

Rene

The Linnet is impressive alone.

Lovely image of the Linnet, but I also think the fly is distracting.
