Well, seems I have always had issues keeping my extremities warm while conducting any winter recreation, particularly my hands. Although there are many types of gloves available, finding a pair which is thin enough to allow me to manipulate camera gear is more difficult.
Being it appears many of you take winter images, any recommendations for keeping the digits somewhat comfortable ?
I'm not sure there's any gloves that are very warm and thin enough to operate your camera. I use thin, wool fingerless gloves as a base layer and then wear thick North Face gloves on top, which I remove when I want to take shots. Mittens are actually warmer than gloves but obviously more cumbersome.
I've tried every conceivable combination for shooting in very cold conditions; liners with big over mitts, medium liners with those semi-fingerless mittens, liners with fingerless gloves, heaters... I'd conservatively guess that I have 30+ pairs of gloves and mittens. So, I just bought another pair; the Komperdell XV-10 Thermo Glove. It's a stretchy fleece with sticky stuff on the palm, and they fit snug. They were 1/2 price at REI - orginally $80, marked down to $39.83. They may be available on the REI outlet site. They fit true to my typical large size. I may have found the magic glove for sitting in a blind in the dark for three hours while waiting for light on grouse.
Those Thermo Gloves could be the ticket! I really appreciate the responses, particularly from you all who understand what photographers put themselves through for that "special" image

I really like the Under Armor gloves. Very thin and great texture on the palms and fingers for gripping gear. Then wear a outer layer over those if really cold.
