Waxwing
Like some other winter visitors, these have been conspicuous by their absence this winter, so here is one from 2011 photographed in the local Tesco car park. I have this shot in both landscape and portrait, and personally prefer it the way it is presented here. Pretty much as shot, although I have cloned out an intrusive branch at the top.

Thanks for looking.

Excellent capture. My personal preference would be a smidgen off the top, but no big deal.

Well caught. I think would prefer a higher viewpoint but fully understand the limitations of the shooting situation. You would think Tesco's (other supermarkets are available) would be more consumer friendly and put a cherry picker in the car park for just such occasions  I have never seen a Waxwing so any image of one would be good for me.

I love the composition works really well. Wonderful colours and sky and the catchlight tops it for me   :wavey:

I think a landscape and some more empty space on LHS rather than the portrait format would have empasised the diagonal lines of bird eyeline and twigs a bit better - currently, as cropped, this feels a touch squeezed and so a bit cramped for my tastes.

Aside from the viewpoint, which has already been mentioned, the image has a strong blue cast. You need to increase the amount of red and green for a more neutral white balance.

Thanks for that Phil, and indeed others who have bothered to comment. On my screen the image is fine, but the monitor is just back from repair. Looks as though I need to get my friendly local monitor calibrator to pay a visit...
