It looks like I'm finally going to get some vacation time next month.
Brian and I will be in Redmond May 13-16 shooting at Smith Rock and if the weather cooperates, Painted Hills. We don't have an itinerary. We're going to play it by ear when we get there.
If you're going to be in the area, give us a ring on my cell.

I might be there the weekend before, but you may want to stay a night in the "hotel" in Mitchell...Ned, John and I stayed there last time we stopped in there...$35 per night~2 beds with a sink.
Word of advice...just dont leave your wallet there when you are trying to jam out the door for sunrise at 4:45 am with only 3 hours of sleep!
I just got off the phone with the ranger and he said the flowers are really late this year because of the cold (29 degrees this morning) and it looks to be a very sparse year as well because of the cold. He doesn't expect much germination in the grooves.
But, this is my vacation so I'm going anyway. We'll probably concentrate our efforts on Smith Rock, but since the weather forcast is good, we'll definitely pay a visit to the hills either Sunday or Monday.
