Since it had snowed the day before and the sky was looking promising, I grabbed my snowshoes at the last minute and headed up to Rainier. Wish I had been motivated just a little earlier in the day. I grabbed this before I lost the light, wish I had more time to spend on the comp. I most likely would have gone into the valley a bit more. As it was, I was franticly stomping down the snow with my snowshoes to get a stable platform for my tripod.

Wonderful Doug! Finding a composition that begins with a straight row of trees in the foreground is challenging, and this pulls it off nicely. The nice diagonals that meet and lead to the mountains, and then wander out the bright light in the upper right is great. The far ridge and mountains have just a touch of heavy shadow that looks slightly HDRish, some careful lightening might look good.
Oh! Sigh... This just makes me sigh with yearning and with pleasure at the sight of it. The light you captured! I think the comp looks great. Good stomping! Great shooting!
Saaweet! Excellent composition of a complex scene, great processing too.

Very nice image Douglas. This image does an excellent job making me feel like I'm out there in the snow watching the sun go down. The comp works for me. I like how all of the diagonal lines converge near the right/center of the image.
