Hi everyone, I treated myself to a new Asus PA246Q monitor yesterday. Wow, what a difference! I have calibrated it using color munky, but not really sure what mode setting to use on the monitor itself. It has Standard, Adobe RGB, sRGB, user, plus a few others. I currently have it on AdobeRGB, as it shows 98% of AdobeRGB colour gamut, and 100% of sRGB. Can anyone advise me please?
Kind regards,
Paul Rosser
Surely you set up and profile your monitor to display the widest gamut as is possible and softproof the changes to varying profiles thro' your processing software.
If you restrict the monitor to sRGB mode you will hit WISIWYG problems with printing, most "photograph" quality printers are now capable of outpout pretty close to a full RGB gamut

Hi Mike, thanks for that, I thought AdobeRGB would be the best option, as then its set up for prints.
Regards,
Paul.

To break it down. Anything you now look at which does not use the colour profile of the image will look somewhat saturated. Everything. This threw me as all my old shots suddenly looked way too colourful, many had no embedded profile. So trust what you see in Photoshop and to check your inline stuff view it in FireFox to be sure it is using the profile.
I'm not sure what the "options" are really refering to and I can't download the manual for your monitor in a form that I can open. I'm guessing that these are simply setting the overall colour space that the monitor will be working within, so aRGB will be an acceptable choice.
You should check, though, that the Color Munki profile that you created is being used. Assuming that your operating system is Win 7, right click on the desktop and select personalize
This will bring up the Personalize Panel. Select Display at the bottom left of the panel.
On the Display Pane select Change Display Settings and this wil bring up the Screen Resolution Panel.
On the Screen Resolution Panel select Advanced which is on the right side of the panel.
This will bring up the panel for either your monitor or your graphics card depending on how the system is configured. From this panel select the Colour Management tab
Click on the Colour Management button
The colour management panel will open with the Devices tab open. Check that your Color Munki profile is displayed in the lower half of the panel and make sure that the box use my settings for this device is ticked.
