Hi Everyone! I hope you don't mind me bragging on my daughter again, but I had to share some good news!
Both Jenaya (14) and Marlise (12) have done ridiculously well in the major national and international contests the past two years, but there's no question Jenaya in particular had an epic 2011 on this front, winning, placing or reaching the final stage of every contest she entered. Right at the end of December we learned of her most recent accomplishment, but had to wait for the magazine to be published to announce the news.
In August she told her mom and I about a "Western Heritage Values" photo contest she wanted to enter, put on by Canadian Geographic Magazine and The Calgary Stampede. I'll let you read the story as she posted one of her pictures in the POP gallery today, but the bottom line is not only did she win the Junior Photographer category with a great silhouette portrait of her younger brother, but for the first time she was allowed to go against the adults and pro's in an open category and ended up winning the Grand Prize!
She's very excited to say the least, especially as the prize package involves some of her favourite things: travel, country music, and more photo opps! She is also featured on two pages of the Spring, 2012 Canadian Geographic "Travel" magazine (the fifth time she's been published this winter alone!).
Please check out Jenaya's winning image and her commentary on the picture here.
Thanks for letting me "gush" on my daughters yet again!
John, your daughters have wonderful natural ability, and natural ability plus love for the activity plus impressive parental support can't lose. Congratulations to all of you!
