Dry Mounting Canvas

I have always dry mounted all my prints in the past. I want to begin serious work with canvas and would like to know if you can dry mount canvas using the same process as mounting standard inkjet paper.

Does anyone have any specific experience doing this? And, no, I don''t want to do gallery wraps or standard stretched mounting if I can avoid it.

thanks so much,
bill

The only method I have used is with PMA by 3M. It is a film you rub onto the canvas and then rub to adhere it to your backing. I have been using acid free foam core. That method has worked well for me but would like to find out about using some type of glue to make it faster.

The largest pieces I have done are 16 x 36 from the Epson 3880 printer on Breathing Color Lyve canvas. I have heard that people who use Glamour II for coating their canvas may use the Glamour II for gluing the canvas to a backing.

William, I just had 3 canvas (Lyve canvas) prints dry mounted today. They came out great. I usually cold mount them to foam core with the adhesive on one side, but the dry mounting worked great . The heat from mounting didn't seem to bother anything that I could see. I had also already sprayed the canvas prior to the mounting and no ill effects there as well.
This is a pretty late responce to your question but maybe you will still see it, or have already gone ahead with it.

Thanks Nick, This is just the information I was wanting to hear. I just haven't had the time to really get back to the project so I haven't tried it yet - but I WILL!

thanks again,
