Hi All,
This heron was photo'd at Regent's Park, London a couple of weeks ago. Had no idea it was so easy to photo these birds there! Walked through the gates with 420mm on camera and looked left to see three being hand-fed by an old lady with sprats! If you want close up heron then this is the place. Old lady is around at about 11:00am most days The islands are not very far from the bank so you can get very good nest shots with 500mm+ and there are plenty of flight-shot possibilities. Tough to make them look wild in flight due to its built up surroundings, but you can play on the urban nature theme.

Well exposed, sharp but a bit too large in the frame for my taste.

Nice sharp image although fopr me a little tight in the frame.
I presume you went through York Bridge entrance to the park?? If you did, right opposite the herony on the very tall white building there are Peregrine nesting, it is a university of westminster building, (on the main road it is the building opposite Madame Taussauds) They regulary hunt in the park so you may be lucky if you are there often, also in June/July the RSPB set up a watch point to view them, last year there were some fantastic views to be had.
Beautiful quality with that dark background really giving the heron impact.I particularly like the raised foot and implied movement.
Would ideally prefer just a bit more space in front of the bird.
Sounds like a great spot to catch up with this species, thanks for the tip.
Hi Elliot, pin sharp with excellent detail, could do with bit more canvas on the left, but still excellent

This is one bird I can never get close to Maybe large in the frame but I think the detail makes up for it IMO.
Well taken & exposed

Hi All,
Its really funny how you can see your failings in the comments. Its great! I think before I submit anymore images to the agencies, I'll post them here first! All the constructive comments regard to the tightness. I actually cropped the image for impact but can now see I have left little space for framing.
Thanks all.

Good feather detail and the dark background really makes the bird stand out,Think it would have been spot on without the converter on
Good dramatic image with the Bg as it is.
major.
the bird is Pin Sharp and I like the BG but I agree with the other comments about size.
