Continuing with what seems to be a recent Cholla fetish, I set out this afternoon in the rain looking for some storm clouds that would convert to B&W. Here's what I found.

The stormy atmosphere adds plenty of drama here. I really enjoy this scene. Where was this?
Peter, thanks for the kind words. This is out Hwy 60 past Apache Junction just before the Peralta Trailhead turnoff. With the sun going in and out it was a nice day for dramatic stormy skies.

Looks like you made the best of a bad weather day, Bill. Nice mood!

Those huge cholla contrast nicely with the dark sky on the horizon and the storm clouds above. I like the B&W.

The atmosphere is amazing here. Love the b&w conversion too.

Looks like an alien landscape, and the BW conversion adds to that effect.
I really like this, Bill! The clouds really make it work, they frame the chollas and make them look otherworldly in a way that I don't think they would with a clear sky. Your B&W conversion looks a little sepia to me; I wonder how this would look with a more neutral conversion.
Thanks for the kind words Bill and Jackson. These are quick edits on my uncalibrated laptop and rather than sepia they look a bit blue on my screen. I just bought a new desktop last night and should have it up and running with a calibrated monitor by the weekend. I'll reprocess and repost in a few days.
It was an amazing weekend in Phoenix. The rain started about suppertime on Saturday and went on sporadically until Monday morning. I got snowed on while I was up at Lost Dutchman State Park and again in Queen Creek. Amazing.
