A lovely shot of a common species Oscar. Focusing is spot on and detail is excellent. Top it all off with a nice background . . . great. :toast: :toast:

Hi Oscar, nice low POV and good eye contact. A clean BKG to separate your subject and I like the small bow wave, with good placement in frame. A slight tweak in Curves to give the subject some 'pop' and a slight CW rotation will, I feel, take it to the next level. Would also think about upping your ISO just to give yourself a bit more SS based on your choice of lens.

Thanks for the comments.

Steve, I am using PSE8 which unfortunately doesn't have Curves. Is it worth getting a later version of PSE/PS which does?

Cheers

Looks good to me Oscar. Needs a bit of rotation.

Hi Oscar, PS is really the way to go as it covers the majority of work you will need to do, plus you can use ACR to convert your RAW files, but it obviously carries a price tag too, to get the full version, however you can get Upgrades at a later stage. Once you have got the basics of PS under your belt, then you can look at more advanced Software like Capture One, LR etc where you can do a bit more, then export to PS for some finishing touches. Likewise hold fire on buying various other plug-in elements like NIK, as you will be like a 'rabbit caught in the headlights', not knowing what to use, or using it all and the images gets totally away from the original look & feel you shot. The more you get right in camera, the less you will need to do in processing, the better your image will be.

Good luck.

An often under photographed species and you have done a good job re the low POV, works for me, Oscar.

Nits covered, but I do think the low pov works well here.
