Take-Off
There are lots of Ladybirds in my garden but still not much else so I've been playing around trying to get some different types of Ladybird images. In particular I've been trying to get a Ladybird at the moment of take-off as it's not something we normally see due to it happening so quickly.

Canon 60D with Canon 60mm macro lens and diffused MT-24 flash, f18, 1/160, ISO 100.

All C+C welcomed.

Great detail & capture Matt with a sympathetic and cracking BKG, you seem to be the Master at Macro.

Like Oscars image, I would suggest going into Levels and just bring in the LH & RH sliders to meet the horizontal axis (optional 12, 1.00, 250) to compress the histogram, a tweak in Curves and I think it will just give you that oomph it needs without detracting from the overall image, WDYT?

Excellent macro work as ever, Matt. This is a POV we very rarely see, showing the inside of the wing case highlights that the pigmentation of the spots carries on all the way through to the inside, something I never knew.

My only very minor nit is that he colours do look a little washed out, so I think SK's suggestion may improve the overall look.

Andy you are right, there is some lovely detail in the inside wing case that just needs to be brought out a bit more. Matt you could also drop the exposure on the plant bud to define things too, but leaving that nice, subdued BKG colour.

I am sure Steve and Andy are making great suggestions, but on my screen it looks fabulous as it is.

many thanks for the comments. Steve, thanks for your suggestions, I think it perhaps could do with a bit more contrast and maybe one or two other tweaks like you suggest.

I am on a laptop so the image looks OK to me and it is always very personal and subjective I think anyway. Nice one Matt. Not seen any ladybugs up here yet.....looking forward to my first dragonfly!
