Frosted finch
A chaffinch from a recent trip to the Scotland. Not sure if the perch dominates too much, but I did like the lichens..

Nice looking image Dave, classic pose on an interesting perch and IMHO, no too dominating, but being on an angle adds interest. Well exposed (although the whites look a little clipped), but good detail & colour. Sits well in the frame, however I would have preferred a more uniform BKG without the slight 'halo' behind the bird, however you could just tone that part down a bit very easily. Not always that easy 'in the field' compared to set ups. Wonder if loosing that small darker part of lichen bottom RHC might help the image, WDYT? This must have been a full frame at just under 5m.

I have looked long and hard at this, Dave, and I do think that the lichens add a lot to it and make for a very pleasing image. I can see where Steve is coming from about that halo behind the bird though.

A very pleasing image. Well balanced in my opinion.

Dave the halo bit covered but that apart looks very good to me.

Yes, I'd wondered about the snow halo behind the bird as well. I'll have a go at toning it down a tad and see what I think.

Must admit the perch is a little dominant to me . Would make a nice stacked macro in its own right actually

No nits, nature provides what she provides, don't think I would bother "toning" it down.

Perch is not overpowering. Very nice image overall, not bothered by the slight halo

I Like this Dave - to me it balances quite nicely and the muted bg colour goes well with both lichens and chaffie.

Lovely shot Dave, perch may be a little too dominating, but I'm not sure, otherwise no nits :toast: :toast:
