Canon 10d sigma 70-200 2.8 1/6@ f2.8 iso 3200.
Had a good day for wildlife watching today but a bit of a poor day for photography, a combination of the light changing a lot and me not quite being 100% on the ball, but a good day none the less. I have been watching a badger sett for a week or two now and occasionally leaving a few nuts for them to eat, with the hope that come the summer and the lighter evenings the badgers will be familiar with me being around the area and taking photo's. This is the first shot i have managed not the best in the world but i am well pleased as it was basically dark, and the badger did not react to the noise of the shutter even though i was only around 5 to 7 metres away. on the few occasions i have watched this sett one badger has emerged sniffed around a little and then given the all clear for the others to come out and begin the mutual scratching, however tonight he came out and discovered the nuts and so delayed giving the all clear until he had eaten them all. not daft these badgers...
a sixth at 2.8 and 3200????
Would it have been brighter if you'd been in the set I wonder
Softness is spoiling this a little, but given the circumstances it is excusable. The docks, both the OOF ones in the foreground and the one in focus beside old brock are a bit of a bummer.........should be easy enough to cut them away the next time you set up.
Our sets have been very, very busy this year, but the best chance we have of seeing them is when out lamping the fields at night.
Look forward to more.
Hi Stewart
I have spent a fair amount of time over the last few years trying for badgers,They seem to be my bogey aminal, I have never photographed near the sett and this is probably why i havent seen one in daylight,I think you have had a good start with this project ,Good luck look forward to more

Hi Stewart
a nice first post of the Badger and it will have given you some confidence to persevere and maybe you will land lucky.

Good luck with the project. Its always great to get your first badgers shot! Still waiting mine! Looks like a lot of people are starting badger projects - will be interesting to see the results as the year progresses.
Hello Stewart
It's a great feeling when you finally nail a species you've been after for a while, and I'm sure this will lead to some really interesting images from your set.
Best wishes
Phil

I am probably about to 'try' for badgers myself with the aid of another local photographer. Will post the notes as we go..
