Mandarin
Thanks for the comments on my last image.

This was one from a dawn trip to Kensington Gardens last week. My target was the Great-crested Grebes, but they were not particularly showy that day. When I got to the spot where you can get to water level, this Mandarin was sitting on the post against lovely red water.

Techs:
Nikon D300s
Nikon 200-400
F4
Handheld at 1/40s!!
ISO 800

Very nice indeed Oscar - love the silhouette and the red BG. You did well considering the techs

Oscar... a rare comment from me at the moment... this is IMO one your best images.. even though its a bird on a post, from the outline one can id the species, helped by just a small amount of detail coming through in the shadows.. an example of urban wildlife at its best.... Oh and 1/40s well done indeed...

Not keen on the post but the obviousness of the mandarin and the colours just take your eye where it should be .

If it's your best...I don't know. It is for sure a very atmospheric image and I also don't mind the post.

A job well done, Oscar. Love the BG colours and the water droplets on the breast.
