Sorry i havent been around much--been real busy. Well, actually just drinking beer and playing poker, but busy nevertheless!!
Had to preserve tradition and head to the dunes before starting another long work stint, so i took a long hike to the south side of the dunes. Here's a pano from there.
3) this may be the oddest dune shot ive ever taken. The lines are my tripod and legs, the shadow is on a thin layer of sand blowing off the dunes crest (as in 2) and the odd whitish lines are actually light on the dunes below. weird...
Your dunes are always cool, Stan....the night shot is a killer.

Remarkable is the best I can come up with for the B/W pano (#1). Great depth, unique composition and the tonality about as good as it gets. I also like #7 a lot. It has mystery and reminds me of a long ago song, "Far Away Places with Strange Sounding Names". Thanks for sharing.

I'm not crazy about the tripod/Stan leg shots but the others are drop dead mad eye candy!!!! You always come away with such artistry from the Dunes.
Good stuff Stan. Really like the comp/lines on the first one. Sweet light and ripples on #2. Those are my favorites. I'm curious if you have the first in color and if you'd share it as well?

I love the B&W pano. Thanks for taking a break from the beer and poker to share these.

Stan, I like the B&W and the #6 abstract. In B&W, there appears to be some "ghosting" in the shadows to the ridge's right that may be shadowing/lighting of blowing sand or lens flare.

My favorite shot is actually number 5. Even though it's more "typical," I think it's very well done. The pano (#1) just has a bit too much really dark area for my taste. You're a gutsy guy risking your camera in that kind of blowing sand!
One thing we can count on is you not going for the 'stock' images from this place.
Easier to name the one that I don't like, and that would be #4.
I even like the first 'legs' image. Your frequent visitations to these dunes has really paid off by allowing you to focus on more creative and unique compositions..
Hi Stan, I pick #5. Overall not you best collection from the Dunes but I'm damn happy you are getting out. It must have been nice having that place to yourself. #7 makes me feel at peace, but isn't that shot from the entrance to the Dunes from the parking lot. If so, keep it dark, otherwise you may discover leftover garments and flip flops stashed in the bushes.
I love the BW pano, Stan. If you don't mind a suggestion, I'd darken the skies in the upper left to add some balance and keep your eyes moving around the whole image. Very, very nice.
