Great shot of the otter's head, but I think I would like slightly more space on the right of the frame, as presented the shape of the picture is a little too far towards square for me.

BIF, I love it especially the larger version. :-) ;-)

I'm with David, the crop is too central for me, otherwise a great image :toast:

Jeff I would look at applying some NR to the BKG and some selective sharpening to the head. As presented it just looks soft which is probably due to, too slow a SS based on the 'techs', you need to freeze these guys.

I think the image quality would improve with a smaller crop, the head seems to have lost definition. I would also prefer a less square crop. But it's a lovely image and one that can't have been easy to get.

All the tech advise from the others is spot on Jeff, but congrats a'plenty for being in the right place at the right time - believe it or not matey THAT is the biggy, and without it all the tech correctness in the world is a waste of time!

Jeff

Mr Astbury sums it up to a tee. Right place right time the fixings come after, but you made the shot well done.

A tough subject Jeff so any pic as smart as this is a good one. Up the SS though

Nits aside that is one hell of an otter image Jeff and for me the bubbles really add to the image. Looks like a dog otter too.

There's quite a bit of noise, the focus point seems to be on the nose rather than the eye, which looks slightly softer, and the relatively slow shutter speed is not conducive to sharp detail in the fur. But what the hell, it's still a great image. Nice work.

All nits mentioned but still an image to be proud off!

I'm with Andy A on this one Jeff. Right place right time and it isn't always just luck. When you put the effort in you often get the rewards. Great picture. :toast:
