Hi Phil, quick question, do you have any more image below and did you open up the feathers (lighten) at all?

cheers
Steve

Hi Phil, all I was wondering was, if you had more image below the crop, and therefore whether the image might benefit to show the whole stone/rock and a little bit of water running around the stone at the foot.

As an image I think the pose/stance, wing/tail feathers splayed out, and the directional head/beak is superb, excellent timing and you instantly know what is going on, lovely behavioural image.

Regarding the Dipper, personally I do find is slightly too sharp based on the chest feathers, but that might also be a combination of the ISO too. In relation to, 'did you lighten the feathers?' , again I think some slight noise is coming through which might have been the result of lightening parts, or not?

Phil these are just observations and as a reply, can be rather hard, compared to a one to one dialog, so please excuse the thoughts, all I am trying to do is understand more about the image.

I'm not even going to think what is the next posting. :toast:

Thanks again

Hi Steve the images are posted for critic if I did not want critic then I would not post, so fell free to post what you think of the image.
There was a bit of space below but I felt it is not worth using, as to being to sharp that will be me and that USM thing, I should have used a bit of Neat Image on it and a bit less USM.

Phil.

Good timing producing an interesting image with a touch of humour. This would make a great 3D anaglyph.

It's all subjective I guess Phil, no worries.

Hi Phil, cracking behavioural shot but agree with Steve about the bird......... not sure what it is but the bird kinda looks a little lacking in contrast on the head area and also a little light I think. I really like the pose and tail and wing detail and like this one the best out of the series. Keep em coming my friend.

Great pose. Wide open at ISO 800 with D300 is pushing it a bit in terms of image quality expectations, but the results speak for themselves; you got the shot and it's a good one.

Great pose... agree about the slight oversharpening... it just wants cranking back or if using a luminosity layer just needs the opacity lowering, I too would have prefered a little more room at the bottom...
