Nikon D7000 300mm f4 + TC-17E ISO 800 1/2500s at f8 handheld

Male Merganser with punk hairdo. Taken same day as my cormorant picture. In fact I had just taken this picture whilst crouched on the loch shore when the cormorant was almost settled on the loch, saw me, abandoned its landing and flew striaght past me. Small in frame but is already a bit of a crop but I do like its spikes! All C+C warmly welcomed and many thanks for the comments on my last posts.

I really like this Nick; good composition, and the colour of the water sets the bird off very well. The bird's pose and colours are very nice also. :toast: :toast:

Yes excellent stuff.
Pano suits it well.
Like the pale line running through the shot too- don't know why !!
