I'm new to PS and can't find my answer in preferences so I thought I'd ask the experts;
When I try to open a vertical image from Bridge to PS, it comes up in a horizontal view necessitating a rotate image command. This little extra step starts to bug me after the first 5 images or so. I know there has to be a way to fix this, but I'm too dense to figure it out.
Thanks, Bruce
I assume you mean that it is shown as a vertical in Bridge (i.e. it's rotated properly in the thumbnail view in Bridge)?
If so, I can't think of a reason that it wouldn't stay that way in PS. However the image is rotated in Bridge is how it shows up in PS for me.
It's possible (and pretty common) that your PS preferences are corrupt, leading to odd behavior like this. You could try starting Bridge by holding down Control+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac). That will reset all of your preferences to default, which can clear up some odd behavior.
Bruce, are these raw camera files and/or the original jpegs from your camera? Or are they older images shot with a camera that didn't record orientation data? I'm just wondering if there is meta data missing from the camera that tells Photoshop which way it up, lol. Do ALL of your images do this? If so, then the file preference zap that David listed is the best place to start.

Thanks for replys. New images shot on a new D700. Jpegs because they are sport shots. I'll try the preference zap.
