Friday evening was pleasant at Monument Valley for the Shadow event. It was enjoyable to spent time shooting and talking wiht Richard O, John M and Andy. As Richard and John have mentioned, there were nice clouds but they lightly diffused the setting sun. I decided to focus my shot on just the Mittens.

While John and Richard headed different directions, I went to north to see House on Fire and Fallen Roof ruins. House on Fire proved popular as maybe 20 people visited while I was there Saturday morning.

Spent Saturday night at Muley Point before going to Fallen Roof Sunday morning. Only one othere photographer was there for the couple of hours.
#4 Tried to get a diagonal flow with this image.
Taken with a Tokina 12-24 that was recently returned from the repair center as the corners were soft. @12mm f/7.1

Very nice set Doug, looks like you had a productive weekend. I really enjoyed all of them, and the fallen roof ruin images must have been nice to see in person. No nits from me on any except I wish I could have been photographing these spots as well.
So, your life was in ruins this weekend, eh?
Well, you did a superb job here, Doug. No nits from me at all. I prefer the horizontal versions myself and strongly so with the last. While it brings the roof more 'in your face', I prefer more context as shown with the horizontal view. All are 'developed' very nicely.
So, are you happier with your lens now? How did you like Muley Point?

Thanks for the comments and preferences. While the ruins were in the shade, the WB of even "cloudy" was often too warm for the reflected light. Cloudy WB looked good on the camera's LCD, but not so on the home monitor.
John- Muley Point offered nice views of the goosenecks, but the very high wind gusts kept me away from the edge and setting up the camera. The lens seems to be acceptably sharp now. A brick wall should be a good test pattern to be sure.
Doug - I was in MV on Friday night too. I didn't get in until 11pm and went to Fallen Roof Ruin on Saturday. Too bad I just missed you. I am in Grand Junction now and am heading to Moab later today. Great set of images. I like them all. 2 + 4 are my faves. I hope all is going well.
