Bittern II
Thanks for the comments on my Bittern image. Here's another from later in the session, where it started to walk towards me on the very short green reeds.

Techs:
Nikon D300s
Nikon 200-400mm f4 VR
Handheld resting on mud
F4
1/100s
ISO 800

Thanks for looking

Excellent Oscar, might consider loosing a little off the foot of the image. :toast:

Oscar I thought the first shot was good but you fooled us all! This is really something special.....like everyone else I haven't seen a bittern image like this before. It is simply stunning!

PS you might have a couple of dust bunnies or possibly OOF flies in the lighter blue of the sky near the top. They do not detract from the image but just for info.

Perhaps remove some mush off the bottom to give more emphasis to the superb bittern.

this and your previous shot are excellent Oscar. This is my favourite of the 2 and with a tiny bit off the bottom would be even better. I'm glad to hear the photographic opportunities are improving at Minsmere. I've always found it a great place but a bit frustrating for photography.

Oh yes... I'm with Mr A...brilliant... the layers with the sharp bird, just couldn't be better... I think you have a classic here..

It needs entering somewhere.

Can't fault it, Oscar. You have done well considering just what a difficult species this is to photograph.
