Continuing an exploration of the more common species and an ideal opportunity to try out the 2x extender on the 500, follow the 'rules', stop down a little and the results are good... (full size is sharp)
All the best

May be common Phil but that is an uncommonly good image Sir! Boy that 2x extender is certainly crisp, the detail on the larger image is superb and the BG and reflection bring it all together.
Hi Phil, nice to see something we take for granted and quite often overlook in photographing, these are just as exquisite as some of the more exotic species seen. I like the way you have darken the image to give prominence to the subject and as Rob said, more 'pop' with a vignette, however, personally, I'm not convinced about the darker edge to the LHS, just my take.
As taken, no darkening no vignette, darkness is caused by the background being in shadow... the left hand side is part of the mirroring of this in the water...
The lighting has worked really well on this one, Phil. And once again good to see one of the more common species getting some attention. I've never owned a 2x, but looking at this makes me think it could be a very handy piece of kit.

Slight crop to correct wonky water.
