A faster cheaper backup device is the US made Hyperdrive HD80 which uses standard laptop hard drives and 4 AA batteries, no screen but really what use are the screens on these devices anyway? (other than to play and run down your batteries....) - plug the CF card in and it automatically creates a new directory and transfers the files from the CF card so hard drive organisation is a cinch, there is a checksum facility to ensure no corrupted data (but that doubles transfer time if used), battery life is very good for the type of device - about £150 for 100gb backup unit, International carriage was free not sure if that offer is still available tho', haven't timed it but 1 gb card is less than 1 minute, 2 gb about 2 minutes
You can buy either the shell unit and install your own drive, or various pre-formatted and installed drives - I found it cheaper to buy a complete unit given price of laptop hard drives in the UK, but other techies may have ready sources of suitable laptop drives.
News about these units has spread in the US so supply and demand is sometimes flakey from feedback on some discussion groups.
