Winter at Mammoth YNP
First image in a quite awhile. I've been busy putting together a photographic guide to Yellowstone e-book and app for Android. It always turns out to be a longer project than you think.

This image was taken last year while this area of Mammoth Hot Springs was still active. It has since dried up and now looks grey and dead. Palette Spring which is also in this area is still hopping though. Winter is great time to catch all the steam rising from the hot springs and the bacteria coloring the surface. Makes for some unique images.

Also, I really like your website...simple, direct, very easy to navigate.

Love this shot! The misty surreal formations have an ethereal quality which contrasts nicely with the snowy tree which brings it back to reality.

Fascinating image! It really made me scratch my head for a couple of seconds trying to figure out why parts were blurry. I like it!

So do I.
I like the contrasts present. Cold and warm, static and dynamic, This wouldn't have worked nearly as well without the snow present. Nice to see a creative Yellowstone 'intimate' image.

Outstanding work, Dean! Mind boggling, which is always effective. I like the way the tree anchors the scene.

Beautiful image Dean! I really like the Mammoth area anyhow, so for me, it works really well.

The steam gives a mysticism that keeps my eyes moving in this image. The snow covering on the snag is a definite plus to work with the steam
