Tree of the night
When I was at the grand canyon last week my uncle photographed my five year old cousin under this giant juniper (I think it is anyways, please correct me if I'm wrong). I asked him to show me this tree on the way back to the car. Our group became separated and I ended up with my parents and other cousin. Luckily she know what tree I was talking about and finally found it. I walked around it a few times until setting up the camera. I noticed the moon was rising to the south so I shot that way and caught the moon coming up in a few of them. These were the shots I took of the tree, and I will surely be back to this spot on my next visit to the canyon hopefully with some crazy light.

All images were shot with a canon 7d canon 17-40mm @17mm 30 sec ISO 100.

Let me know what you think.

Very nice series! I really like the mood. #1 and #3 are my favorites.

I also like the 'blue' mood you captured here, along with the 'moonstar' inclusion. I like #'s 2 & 3 best because the first and last have that heavy 'knob' of the tree a bit too dominant and unappealing for me.

Thanks Chris and John.

John, I wish the moon would have been able to be captured in the same scene as 2&3 but as with photography it never goes the way we want. I'm already planning on photographing this tree again, and spending some time carefully composing the tree with the sky.

Well, I find the compositions and mood to be very creative and hope you get more later on. Well worth revisiting, for sure!

Like the angle and the blue tone. Even though dark, you still have nice detail in the trees. Very ominous.

I like #2 as well. The rest seem a bit busy to me.
