I'm amazed that Canon even responded to this "issue", other than suggesting that you don't light up the top LCD while metering in extremely low light. Notice all these tests are being done with the bodycap or lenscap on.

If anyone is drastically impacted by this issue, I'll do you a favor and take the camera off your hands for half price :)

The latest word is, there may even be a light leak in bright sunlight. As a long-time Canon user, this is very disappointing QC if true.

Howard, there is NO "light leak" in bright sunlight with the lens cap OFF.
BUT, I have experienced severe autofocus issues with the lens cap on.
I'm sure there will be a recall to correct this latest defect.

Bill did you get a Mk III?
Posted by Bill Pelzmann on April 16, 2012 at 10:17 PM
Yes, Jack, I'm very happy with the upgrade as a whole, especially the AF system.
The high ISO noise performance is also handy when needed.
Last month I was shooting handheld in the Butterfly Pavillion. To get enough DOF and shutter speed, I used ISO 6400.
I considered the RAW files outstanding, before any noise reduction. With a 5d2/1Ds2, I limited myself to ISO 800 in a pinch.
