D7000 500mm f4 ISO 400 1/800s at f8 tripod
Taken today in Strathspey as it flew overhead.......makes you glad you are not a fish!
Some of you have noticed my new lens. It is a 1st generation af-s 500mm f4 bought second hand last week...no vr but I think I can manage without using a good support. Still getting used to its weight and mass. Also I think it has a back focus issue as I struggle to get it sharp at lower apertures. Thank goodness my D7000 has AF fine tune and live view! Lugged it up a mountain later this afternoon to get some more mountain hare images.........need a bloody Sherpa!
Nick. All C+C warmly welcomed.

Good one - You've answered my E mail to you asking which lens it was. I have been thinking about the fine tune on the D7000 too.
If its not broke don't mess !!
I wonder ? I will play tomorrow. What make is the lens by the way?

Great osprey image, Nick, but I think you could possibly lift it a little more by lightening the shadows a bit. Congratulations on the new lens, just think of those great biceps you will develop now
