I may must be getting older (close to the "Old Grumpy" mark,) but my first thought at getting up super early to go outside, in the damp cold weather to shoot "Tulips" was "Bah-humbug!"
But you know, if the coffee is hot and you can just start taking those first couple of dew drenched beauties, it's really a pretty nice way to spend your morning.
I had a fairly good beginning, just started processing about 90 images and this one floated right to the top of my "Favorites List." Whats really funny is it recorded as image 2012, so maybe thats an indication of a good year for flowers. Woodland Tulip Festival 2012

Great sharpness and colors, Craig. I do find the green bud in the bg a little distracting, but if you cropped off its top so it merged with the me to its left, it would be less of a shape and draw attention back to the subject.
Hey, that's is a dewy beauty! I agree with Marylynne, though, that the bright tulip behind the subject would fit better if it were darkened to fade it back. Would make a great subject gather more of the limelight that it deserves.
How about posting it under our "Tulip Challenge images" in the Sticky Tread section…
And maybe see you next weekend, there, with Ned?

Hi Marylynne and Catherine,
Thank you for your suggestion on my tulip image. I had actually toned down the bright green bud in the center BG a LOT while processing the original image. Apparently it was not enough as you pointed out that it was still an eye grabber. Marylynne, you had a good suggestion to crop part of it also, losing more of its "attention."
I have toned down the bright greens in the BG blooms more and applied a crop and I agree that your suggestions improve the image and so... "THANK YOU" both! Catherine hopefully you can make it down to Woodland soon, it's not as big as Skagit Valley or the Wooden Shoe festival in Woodburn, but has a nice display garden.
Regards, Craig

Good to know that comments were helpful. I find it so, too...
