Not posting for critique, in my last post I mentioned that I was having a problem with images exported directly from Lightroom looking OK but when I save out of Elements they appear dull and darker... I have changed a few settings so this is just to test what is going on...
The image here is a straight export from Lightroom, the following post is saved from Elements...
Nothing changed in LR, it is when I save out of elements that there 'appears' to be a 'change' it is quite clear on my system here and on my two Eizo monitors at work... all I did with these two images was to change the suffix from 1 to 2 for the image saved from Elements...
What is more annoying than anything else here is that I was trained by Gretag Macbeth in colour management etc and I have no idea what is happening here....
It looks as if the Elements is trying to squeeze the white a bit, the mid tones in the image looks the same but if you look at the elements picture there is a distinct dulling of the whites on the highlights of the bird and blocking of the blacks.
Agree Tom... I am getting a little bit puzzled, open up both images side by side in elements and they are identical... going to put them onto a stick to take to work tomorrow and see if there is any difference in Photoshop displayed on our wonderful self calibrating Eizos...
I am certainly heading for a Lightroom only 'workflow'
LR4 has a new colour engine and the colour gamut of images appears to be different. Many people are noticing differences between images exported from LR4 and other Adobe software.

They look identical on my laptop. Great shot by the way.
Cheers Phil, that confirms what I was thinking... Nick there is a subtle difference, I think I have got Elements as close as I can get it to LR4, I am concentrating now on a purely Lightroom workflow, I am much more happy with the results....
Hi Phil, presumably the issues with Elements would apply equally to CS5? Or is there something specific to Elements? I can see a slight difference but it's very subtle to my eyes (on a calibrated iMac).
Your viewing on the same system as me... the differences are very subtle as you say, but they are there, I do feel that it is an anomaly that is probably specific to a lesser conversion engine in Elements... I am not sure if it applies to CS5, probably not, as the mechanics in the background are a touch more sophisticated, CS6, I guess will be a 'perfect' match, maybe Elements11 will be as well... On the iMac I am going to stick with a Lightroom workflow
I don't see any visible difference between them Phil. Sticking them both in PS and doing some tests reveals only very slight differences. What shows up then looks a little like colour noise and maybe a few sharpening halos. That suggests it may be down to differences in the jpeg compression routines in each software package. LR may use a higher accuracy algorithm than the version of Elements you're using.
