Nice photos! My favorites are #2 and #3, although I feel a bit bad for the prairie dog... I'm guessing most the eagles are headed back north, while the nesting ones hang out in Colorado? Watching them birds is spectacular... TFS!
All are good but 1 and 3 are exceptional in this series. A photo of a Bald carrying a prairie dog is, I would imagine, quite rare. They are known as scavengers and will take whatever is available. Fish and ducks are their primary prey in Colorado, with rodents occasionally filling in.

Terrific set Richard! Love the first and third (feel sorry for the prairie dog but at least it met it's maker the natural way!)

Nice series Richard! How long were you out there before you had some photo ops (assume this is the nest I know about in Hygiene)? I have only been out there once and waited for a couple hours with no fly-byes or anything. I think my fans are 1 & 3.

Kurt,
I spent morning and evening for 3 days. Cursed the clouds as they stole my light. Cursed the wind and dust, but then thanked it as it slowed the eagle with the prairie dog as it flew to the nest. Stood long hours waiting for something to happen till my lower back went into spasms, then a frantic 10 seconds as they flew from the nest to the limb. (I missed one perfect light shot because I was talking to a birder)
Ahhhh....the wonderful life of a wildlife photographer
It's a wonderful place if you have the patience and stamina!
