My travels with fog
Here are some more I worked up from my morniing with the fog, Pikes Peak, and Garden of the Gods last week.

Not sure if the moon is too small to impact enough here and would it be better to crop to pano?

#2 Same question here.

#3 A lot of contrast in this one. Too much?

#4 Foreground too busy?

#5 There was still fog lingering when I hit the Garden.

A nice series Morris. It's a toss up between #7 and #9 for me. I think #1 works best as a pano, and the tree on the left side of #3 is a bit distracting to me.

9 is my favorite. 7 is also really nice. Did you take a closer view of the bottom mountain in 2 without the sky and horizon aspect? In 4 I definitely agree the foreground out-competes for the main subject which is the fog layer.

Between 1&2 with the moon, I prefer 1 since the sky is darker and the moon stands out more. Overall the image is richer with more clarity. 1 would also work as a pano. In 2, you could possibly crop off most of the sky, and adjust the far mountain and sky to emuluate the brightness, contrast and saturation seen in 1.

Of the last five, preference to 9, then 6/7.
In 8, the white rock's brightness makes it stand out too much to me.

#1 and #7. The higher cirrus clouds in #1 do a nice job filling in the negative space which allows the moon to anchor the upper 3rd of the image. I like #7 of the GOG images mostly because I like that look of that rock fin. I'm just not a big fan of the Kissing Camels from this perspective.

I like the moon in #1, but would crop it out in #2 as that wonderful fog laced mountain the foreground is where my eye goes.
That one is my favorite.
#9 is my favorite from that particular series. It's a fine composition and the fog introduces some separation between the two monoliths. 'Losing' the handrails in the lower left of center would be an asset.
Well done, Morris!

My thoughts pretty much echo others' here. The moon in #1 is a nice grace note in that lush sky, though it could work as a pano too. But in #2 it seems more like a distraction, and I think a crop would be better there. For #3, I really like those kind of images, and I definitely see why you were attracted to it, but the comp's not quite there. Maybe if the near tree had some kind of counterpoint?

As far as the GoG shots go, #9 is definitely sweet, and I rather like #5 too: that rock sure looks big and imposing looming up into the mist.

Great set of images, Morris. I like that first image without the foreground; in fact it might be my favorite from your fog images. It lends an element of mystery and makes me wonder how you took that image. Of course I know from the other images that you have posted but I think you catch what I am saying. I'm not bothered by the small size of the moon and don't know that I would crop it personally. I like the contrast in #3 while #4 doesn't quite resonate with me on the same level as the others from this series - not so much because the foreground is too busy but because it just doesn't hold my interest as much. Of the GOG images I think that #8 is my favorite and I like the sense of scale in #5.

Sweet set, Morris! That is the great thing about the RRR, you just get done up top and it's still going strong down below.
1) Yes 2) No 3) No 4) Yes

That first image is spectacular Morris! Looks like you've been hanging around Todd and learning the tricks of the cloud man. Well done sir!

These are all really nice but I especially like the 2nd one with the thin fog over the trees.

Really nice series of shots Morris! I LOVE #1 and #2 with the third one in a close race! I think one would look awesome pretend very large hanging in anyone's Living Room. :toast:
