The setting makes the shot IMO, love the lighting on the grouse too, nicely done, Kim :toast:

Hi Kim, a lovely image, the rich colours set against the frost environment all go to make this image. Like the BKG tapestry. Don't forget, you can push the 7D, so perhaps ISO800 to improve the SS might have helped too.

Hi Kim

I think some of the others you did were much better - Will give you a ring.

Lovely setting and the frost really adds to the image. Perhaps slightly more head turn on the bird? You have caught the colours beautifully.

Thanks all, yes I will do that next time Steve, the light was low because of the early morning, I should have upped the ISO

Kim, to be totally honest I am still struggling with the 7D and the images it produces and I have seen a huge amount, however this is one of the finer ones IMHO. :toast:

From what I have seen, it's is in the processing and this looks good, but would like to have seen this posted bigger to get the most from it. If there are any pointers I know off or have found will let you know. The more you can do in varying 'climatic' conditions and get to know your camera more and how it reacts, the better you and your images will become.

Personally I am very envious of the light here and the overall content, keep them coming, it's a winner in my book.
