Ghost Line

Nikon D700 with various lenses: 14-28 f/2.8, 50mm f/1.2, 135 f/2.8,
500mm f/8 reflex...

I note, only with high ISO and high contrast[astro-photography],a faint "ghost" line of very slightly lighter exposure extending in uniform width across the sensor. The line is the width of the bright object in the photo, say for instance Venus against a dark background

It does not get dimmer the further away from the light source from
whence it comes. Again, it also goes in both directions if the bright light
[planet Venus] is centrally located and also if it is located near the
edge of the framing.

I don't remember checking this problem with 'portrait' format; I have
seen it on 'landscape' format but I should check the portrait
presentation, too.

Is this a function of the aforementioned ISO speed/contrast or something wrong with the sensor?

I wonder about the anti-aliasing filtering process?

Larry - Can you post an example? It almost sounds like some kind of blooming effect... how long is your exposure?

Yes, I'll attach a photo when I have a little more time.
On this format is it 700 or 1200 pixels, etc.???

Larry,

720 on the long side should be fine, as long as it clearly shows the issue you are concerned about.
