Looks like a worthy update to me. Browse some of the improvements here: http://www.photoshopuser.com/cs6

Howard,

For me personally, I like it. The sliders in the raw version mirror the ones on LR4 which is a nice upgrade. There are a lot more things that I haven't even checked out yet but from the Beta version I've been using, I plan to do the upgrade.

It looks like they did some big upgrades for graphic designers and added some serious video-editing capabilities. But solely for photography, it seems like they added some artistic effects and more blurring options which I wouldn't likely use. The distortion correction looks nice but I can already do that, with maybe a tad more effort, with existing PS tools. The only thing that really jumps out at me is the non-destructive cropping, like in Lightroom, but for me personally that's not worth the upgrade. If I didn't have Lightroom 4 and needed the new RAW converter, I might upgrade.

I am proud to say I am now Adobe free on my Mac. I simply got tired of their bloatware and inflated upgrade pricing some time ago. Clearly, though, it is a powerful tool, which is unmatched.
Now, I do editing via Aperture and the Nik filters. Both programs are intuitive and work well, saving me time and frustration. If I have a image that requires major editing and using Photoshop, I delete it. I am forcing myself to become a better photographer than relying on software to make my images acceptable. If I do need something more sophisticated, I have Pixelmator. Its about on par with Elements, but is a very small program that runs well on a Mac.

Even if the upgrade doesn't seem worth the price, I believe if you do not upgrade from CS5 to CS6, you will not be able to upgrade to CS7 when it comes out and would have to purchase a new copy all over again. I am not certain of that, but I do think that is what Adobe is doing. Someone please correct me if that is wrong.
