GOG and mines
Thank you all for a very informative and wonderful meet up with a short hike in the Garden of the Gods on Sunday. I reached Colorado Springs on Saturday evening just before the sunset and had a few minutes to get a few shots. Sunday morning before the meet I was in the mines - my first visit and liked it a lot.

Your c&c is appreciated as always.

#1 Mines sunrise - provided a larger view.

#4 - liked these twisted trees in GOG a lot.

had to do a lot of compression to fit these in :frown:

Soubhik, these are all very nice. Confirms for me that I need to get out to the Paint Mines. I really like the GOG shots... especially through the twisted trees. I've never seen that perspective done there.

I like the first two quite a bit. Especially the first, with that old burned out looking shrub still producing flowers in the foreground. Great choice! Sunstar complements the scene without overwhelming it.
Composition and flowers in #2 are quite nice.
#4 might have worked better had you gotten in there and concentrated on the twisted trees while excluding the distracting background. I would definitely return to this place.

Nice stuff Soubhik! Good to see you again at the Garden. I headed out to the Mines after we all left but the light was so flat and ugly that I didn't even get out of the car. You were there at the right time of day and made the most of it.

Thanks a lot for your feedback

John - that area had a fence all round it and there was a big signboard asking to protect Natural resources
had another comp in mind going between the trees, if only I could go in .. :frown:

You found some nice compositions at the Paint Mines.
That's a tough place to shoot sunrise on your first visit!
Heck, if you don't take the right turn at the start, you might never see any rocks!
Did you ever get an ID on those yellow flowers in #2 ?

I enjoyed the afternoon there for my first visit. Some very interesting geology. I definitely plan to return.
Even though it was essentially cloudless, the late afternoon light was very nice.

Bill, I stopped for lunch in the Springs, and never saw you at the Paint Mines. :wavey:

I really like the first picture. It is so unusual to have a grey on white composition, and then the yellow sunstar is reflected in the yellow flowers. I suggest you take the time and effort to print that one at a high quality lab.

Bill - I think these are golden banners, in another month or so the Moraine park area should have them in full bloom. Last year I saw them almost everywhere in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Bill P, I grabbed a sandwich and ate on the road. When I got to the Mines the light was still flat and ugly and harsh. Since I was poppng ibuprofen like candy due to overexerting myself the day before, I decided to head home and have a nap. I work in the Springs so one of these days I'll slide out there after work for some late day shooting.

Soubhik, I am a big fan of the first one especially (and all are good). I really like the sun over the horizon, the flower anchor and the horizontal lines top it all off! Nice work :toast:

Nice work on all of these. I like your comps.
