My first post since returning from Florida. It is good to be back home. It is a little too humid for my tastes there. Anyway, this fella's expression cracks me up. It isn't the best bird photo I've taken so far, but one that makes me smile.

I think this is really good, Ryan. You did a great job controlling those ever difficult to get right whites!
Egrets/herons always look funny when they are looking towards you - they won't get awards for beauty in that aspect...
Other photographer friends from Florida tell me that it is easier in Florida than almost any other state in the US to get close and cozy with all sorts of egrets, herons, cormorants, etc (and probably alligators too!). Also, having been raised on the east coast I hear you with respect to the humidity!

Ryan,
This is a nice one. You did a good job portraying this bird. It kind of looks like a whole diffrent world down there.
Ryan, Welcome back...I have to say, not being a total bird lover...that this looks pretty cool to me. What an interesting bird...almost made just for taking pictures of.

You sure do a good job capturing the bright areas of the birds well, Ryan. Did you go to Florida specifically for bird photography?

I was in florida for a conference. I only had a few hours to get out and take photos here and there. Florida is definitely worth a trip for bird photography though, especially if you have time to dedicate to it. There are a lot of interesting birds there.
