I went out to the Painted Hills last weekend to test drive the new Canon 5D III. It's a keeper. I've had a lot of Canon cameras over the years including the pro 1Ds series. This is the first digital that takes me back to the pleasure I remember with the old film EOS 3. It's a real pleasure.

Anyway, here's a shot at 300mm, 1/250s @ f/11, ISO 100.

Beautiful shot with a lot of clarity and color.

Great one, David. On my visits to Painted Hills I always enjoy a slow perusal through the viewfinder with a 300mm lens, looking for compositions like this.

Good one, David. I like the composition, colors and lines. I've been to Painted Hills only once, but would love to go back again.
Good luck with your new camera.

This is really nice David, well seen and apparently the new camera is meeting expectations. Congrats on your purchase and enjoy it often on future shoots.

Great eye for capturing the deep black edge effect in each separate gully of the hills. I would expect that a large print would really be outstanding!
