A frosty afternoon on the front range. I went back behind the Flatirons to Eldorado Canyon and hiked around for 4 hours looking for the right light and composition and came up empty handed. On the way out I happened to look in the rear view mirror and saw the late afternoon light just hitting the last few spots on the ridge. This is a more subtle rework of this file. Comments appreciated.
There is a reason why accomplished photographers realize that quality lighting of a photographic subject is a requirement for quality photography and this photo demonstrates that principle. Thank heavens for that rear view mirror!

Those rear view mirrors come in handy. Nice catch. I like your rework.

In addition to the beautiful texturing light, I like the way you balanced the "skyline" of the dark shadowed foreground trees with the actual skyline of Bear Peak and South Boulder Peak. Great image!

The last light ticking the points of rock really sets them off against the frosty trees. Very nice!
