Yes, in five years I've learned that most "juried/jurored" exhibits are money suckers for galleries, designed for amateurs like me, etc. etc. I've also learned that some are quite different.

As the saying goes, "sometimes peanuts, sometimes shells". So in the chance of tooting my horn a bit, I had a very good week.

First I learned that juror Susan Thompson of the Guggenheim Museum of Art in NYC has selected my photograph "Back in Her Arms" as one of 70 images from over 1,000 submitted from across the U.S. for display in PHOTOWORK ‘12, the Barrett Art Center’s 25th Annual National Juried Photography Exhibition in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is the second year I'll have something here.

The photo and unfortunate story behind it are in the regional NENP forum and in the POP photo gallery.

Then, later in the week, I found out my image "Hatchery Road” has been chosen for “Art of the State: PA 2012” at the beautiful State Museum of PA in Harrisburg. It is only one of 140 works of art (all media) chosen from over 1,800 entries from the entire Commonwealth. Back in 2007, “Art of the State” was the first juried exhibit I ever entered, and the first one I was ever chosen for, so this one in my state capital is special to me.

Again, the photo and exhibit info are in the regional NENP forum.

On top of that, I've been asked to supply at least eight 40" x 60" photo panels for a new banquet hall in my area. I can't wait to see the end result of that.

Anyway, thanks for read and if it comes across as boasting, I just consider it another piece of marketing.
