Captured this image early morning a couple of weeks ago at the Green River overlook in Canyonlands National Park. HDR conversion of 5 images using Photomatix. Went with B&W to accentuate the lighting and cloud drama. Comments and feedback welcome. Kipp

I very much like the tonal range in this HDR to BW conversion.
I'm sure this small JPEG does not do it justice.

Hi Bill,
There is a lot of range and detail in the image thanks to the HDR. I am going to try making a print of it tonight to check out the range that I can see in the print.

The lower third of the image is a little heavy visually for me. I think there is great tonal range and nice detail. It just seems bottom heavy to me. Love the clouds.

Wow, I love this. Perfect B&W conversion. I would love to see this on a DuraPlaq Alumaplaq.

Really nice! I love the tonal range and it really gives a good sense of being there. It would be fun to see this as a larger print.

Looks like a very nice image for a B&W conversion, especially with the clouds. One adjustment might be to move the black point in levels about 12 pts to the right.

Hi Doug,
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try. Might help a bit. I also notice the Lightroom image always looks different than the JPEG version for posting. JPEG is always a little more harsh.

The dappled light and dramatic skies lend themselves well to this very successful b&w image.
The HDR work looks terrific, too. Great job all the way around!
