A passing Barn Owl (w)
Taken the other day at a site where I have positioned at a safe distance an observation hide, observations are an important link to a section of my work, this being the monitoring of nest sites in support of the species.

D2X - 400mm AFS using tripod
ISO 100, F4, 1/1000sec

Its nice to see the image upload lifted to 720 instead of 640, looks much better :toast:

Hi Vince

A superb flight shot, with pin sharp focus point on the head/eye area. Great light on the owl, and the letterbox format crop works well.

cheers

superb vince. now you are thinking commercial try getting a few more...one vertical, one horizontal and one with loads more space for the bird to fly into. editors love text! what's the minimum shutter speed for a flying owl? if you could drop that a bit could you get the wings sharp too? stunning photo. cheers Pete

Nice shot, love the warm colours, suggests you shot in the evening/dawn? Good shutter speed for ISO 100 though if it was. Barn owls have such lovely plumage.

What a cracker! My flight shots are far more distant and with such warmth in the colours... really, very nice.
