Female wheatear + Re-post
D7000 500mm f4 ISO 400 f6.3 at 1/3200s handheld through car window.

Not as showy as the male but the perch is quite nice. Early morning light and the wheatears seem happy to pose for my camera first thing.
All C+C warmly welcomed.

Nick. :wavey:

Plenty detail in the bird and fencepost. Good light too. My only nit with this one is that the size of the perch is too heavy for the size of the bird :toast: :toast: :toast:

Lovely clean image Nick. The perch has a lots of character so isn't problem for me. :toast:

Good one. Maybe a landscape crop would lessen the perch impact a tad.
Every thinks differently anyway.

Landscape version. Tried the portrait just as a change to landscape but I think the landscape does work better. What do you think?

Very nice Nick, do you have one which was taken in landscape in the camera? :toast: :toast:

Hi Nick, I would go landscape, but make it more 3x2 extending the canvas/background. A hint of selective Curves in the wing & body would define the feather/plumage more.

Not square! The portrait would have been the way I would have gone to emphasise the lovely perch. With more a square towards you i recon it would have been perfect. as is love the colour, bg and feel! well done for thinking portrait too oft forgot :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

I like lichen and old wooden posts, so the first one for me with, perhaps, a bit more space round the bird and post. Very nice indeed.

Yep second for me too... it will be quite easy to add canvas if you are so inclined, although it is not my thing...

Nick, I would stick with it as you first posted. The post is full of character and is typical of what these birds perch on around here so it is fine as far as I'm concerned. :toast: :toast:

Overall, I would go with the first one I think. It's a cracking post to be perched on!

Both superb - but the second takes it for me. Splendid shot.
