Sandpiper
D7000 500mm f4 ISO 400 f8 at 1/250s beanbag from car window.

Disappointing morning with the black grouse, forecast of frosty sunny morning. Got there at 3.00 am, lek started at 4.00am and then cloud and snow showers! Too overcast to get any decent shots but further down the glen came across this very confiding sandpiper who was happy to pose for me for quite some time. Travelling to the lek came across a badger, roe buck and barn owl all on the road....pays to keep your wits about you! All C+C warmly welcomed.

Spot on Nick. Some won't like the sqare crop but you could easily stick abit on the left if needed.
Greens on the bird are the ones only a Sandpipper can have
Very nice.

Beautiful shot, I don't suppose it does make up for a black grouse, but it is super.

Great detail Nick, nice management of colours in the overall image.

As everything is as a 'side profile' do you have the birds head in that position too, so the whole image is a side profile/elevation? Just a thought.

Can't fault this image. Great setting and positioning of the bird.

Very, very nice... good detail, and background, I would perhaps like a touch more canvass to the left of the bird, but it is fine for presentation on the web.....
