Moonrise over Hawksbill Crag
Even though this location is one of the most photographed in the state, I thought watching the moonrise from here last night would be great to just experience. Of course, I had to take a camera, and this is what I got.

You did great Bill!!! Love it. I was skunked this morning by clouds when I tried.

Excellent exposure throughout this magical scene..Perhaps this place is often photographed, but I would venture to say not many produce as fine an image Bill.
I heard that the moon was about 15,000 miles closer than usual the other night, a rare occurrence..
Very nice :toast:

Excellent Bill.
Great choice for this moon viewing and great execution.

Glad to see someone was out there for the "super moon".
Moons are always tough in my mind; the contrast issue does not allow much moon detail.
Bill, your photo show good lunar detail. That's probably partially due to the humidity low on the horizon which also added the reddish tint.
I would like to see a narrow, panoramic presentation [say cut about in half?] which would emphasize the moon even more.
Nice work.

Great shot Bill, looks like you caught that moon with some color!

Thanks for all the nice comments and suggestions. It was really a peaceful evening, and the soft, pastel orange color of the moon when it first peeked throught the haze was beautiful! Reminded me of a peach.

Larry, I tried the crop that you suggested and like it a lot. Thanks! BTW, the master file from which this was taken has noticably less contrast and not the blueish cast that I'm seeing in the jpg version. Compression loss is really hurting this one.
