Displaying Great snipe
I have just returned from a week bird photography to Belarus. I stayed a week near the Prypat river, a wonderful area of inundated fields, ideal for waders. It has been one of the most difficult trips have done (very hot, very early starts and many mosquitos) but i was generally pleased with the results. On my to do list was also the Great snipe. One of the most elusive snipe species. I was lucky to be able to spent 2 evenings at a Great snipe lek and it was amazing to see 25+ male birds around the hide calling to each other.
You can read about this trip on my website, click on the diary button.

Like it, the setting shows well the elusive nature of the bird... I am not sure but I feel it needs a little more room below for the legs but realise this is full frame...

Hi Rene, like the muted greens juxtapose to the strong contrasting plumage of the snipe, pops well. Agree with Phil on a hint more at the foot for the virtual legs. The subtle dew on the grass is a nice atmospheric touch.
