Sandpiper II
D7000 500mm f4 ISO 400 1/320s at f8 beanbag from car window.

Many thanks for your comments on my Sandpiper image. This is another shot with a full side profile as Stephen K has mentioned and has it calling hence the open bill. The background on this one is green due to a distant grassy bank whereas my position change had the river in the background hence the greyer colour on the first image. I have desaturated the green BG a little so it hopefully doesn't out compete with the bird. What are your thoughts on this one?

Even better then the 1 post. I prefer the position of the head a bit better!

Hi Nick, well that fits the bill nicely. :toast: :toast:

Nick I will/may pose a question if only to make you (or whoever) stop and think. It could well be wrong, but if it makes you or another viewer think, it has done it's job. For me, I feel part of a critique is not only to say congratulation, but perhaps pose a thought or question which may or may not add to the image depending on your POV and perhaps if right, take it to the next level.

This has just taken the previous post to the next level IMHO, WDYT?

Bloomin superb, calling pose, great background and exactly the right size in the frame... ticks all the right boxes for me.

I agree with the above critiques, this is lovely, and the head side on makes it extra special in my opinion, a perfect study!!! :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

Many, many thanks for all your comments. My personal favourite though is the first post because of the eye contact and I guess that is personal to me because the bird was happy to accept my presence and at that point it looked at me as if to say "what are you doing mate?" I always find it a great honour when any animal or bird tolerates me in their lives even if only for a short time.
